BAGHDAD / NINA / MP for Iraq Coalition Taleb Kharbit expressed on Monday his opposition to the entry of ground troops to Iraq, stressing the need to “respect Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He said in a statement today, “While we welcome the international efforts to fight the IS, we reiterate our rejection of state intervention of ground troops to Iraq, and in particular the ground Turkish intervention on Iraqi soil.
The Turkish parliament approved on the second of this month on Turkey’s participation in the international alliance to hit the IS, authorizing the government in direct military intervention in Iraq and Syria.
